Vintage Design
The chair is profusely hand carved with foliage, flowers and birds. It has a central oval panel to the spoon shaped scrolled back, showing a lion or mythical beast. The shaped seat frieze is pierced and carved, with a leather upholstered seat above. Standing on carved legs depicting mythical beasts.
The seat has been resprung and reupholstered in a brown hide leather.
There are minor losses to the chair: The front seat area, to the left hand side frieze and the right hand side back edge. Please refer to the last three photographs. The underside of the seat has some old glued hessian.
The chair is sturdy and has no loose joints. The back has some very slight movement to it, but this is normal, and due to the design.
The width of the back is 65cm, the legs are 57cm wide. The seat height is 40cm.
