This c. late 19th or early 20th century belt is made of woven sterling wire mesh. It has a gold wash finish, an elaborate filigree buckle, keyhole shaped buckle stops, and a triangular tip with “molded” edges. The design of this belt is typical of the traditional work from the the city of Trabzon, Turkey and was likely made in that region. The only mark on it is a raised floret or rosette on the back of the buckle. It tests for sterling.
