What an amazing find! This chatelaine vinaigrette bottle would have belonged to a very fine lady! Made from a Mother of Pearl conch shell with criss-cross carved openings, it would have held a handkerchief saturated with a vinaigrette solution or perfume to hold to her nose to help cover odors. It is made with a silver tone metal neck in a floral design with a small hinged lid; it also features a pointed silver bottom as well as a 3″ chain to add to a chatelaine. This is a wonderful piece that would be a great addition to your collection!
