Vintage Design
Green Artifort Congo armchair model 1001 designed by Theo Ruth for Artifort in 1952. Theo Ruth was inspired by African chairs in which two separate wooden parts are put together. Sitting on them creates a very sturdy whole and a comfortable chair. This armchair from the 1950s is still in good used condition with normal signs of use; slight discolouration to the fabric. Material: beech wood (legs), green Ploeg fabric and the original stuffing of metal springs, jute, horsehair and foam. Dimensions: h x w x d = 85 x 56 x 81 cm. The seat height 39 cm. Source: book Artifort, publisher 010, page 49.
